Einführung in das Ausstellungskonzept von Mycelia durch die Kuratorin Anabel Roque Rodríguez. Künstlerischer Erfolg hängt von einem gesunden Netzwerk ab.

Ausstellungsrundgang
Künstlerischer Erfolg hängt von einem guten Netzwerk ab, das letztendlich über Sichtbarkeit und sogar über Qualität entscheidet. Bis heute wird dieses Netzwerk von Faktoren wie Geschlecht, Hautfarbe und sozialem Hintergrund massgeblich mitbestimmt. Mycelia ist ein Versuch über Macht, Strukturen und Netzwerke nachzudenken und die Natur als Vorbild für ein ökonomisches Konzept der ausbalancierten Macht zu nehmen.
Wie sieht ein gesundes Netzwerk in einer Gesellschaft aus, die Wettbewerb über Solidarität stellt? Was bedingt künstlerischen Erfolg? Was benötigt ein gesundes künstlerisches Ökosystem? Das Pilzmycel dient als Denkmodel und beschreibt fadenförmige Zellen eines Pilzes. Sie wachsen nicht sichtbar im Nährboden und verbinden sich unterirdisch über Quadratkilometer zu einer riesigen biologischen Masse. In diesem Netzwerk sorgen Mycelien auch für aussenstehende Organismen für ein gesundes Ökosystem.

”What is the idea of your work?
"These works explore the residues of a political system still found in our everyday lives in Munich. I shine a light on an ecosystems of power by drawing the architectual interiors of previous National Socialist buildings which have now been repurposed (detoxified) as cultural institutions. By highlighting the exotic plants in these environments I wondered what invisible network they have. Can we transpose the word ‚plant’ for ‚women’? The plants somehow represent an unseen interconnectedness across epochs. Silent witnesses. They are living residue and an exotic cliche in their environments."
Artist Sandra Strēle in conversation with curator Anabel Roque Rodríguez
Sandra Strēle graduated in 2016 from the Art Academy of Latvia, acquiring her master's degree at the Department of Painting, also she had spent one semester as part of a student exchange programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She has received the visual arts scholarship of the Boris and Ināra Teterev Foundation in 2012, the Brederlo von Sengbusch Art Prize in 2014, the SEB Banka scholarship in painting in 2016, prestigious grant from Elizabeth Greenschields foundation in Canada and Young Painter Prize in 2019. Sandra Strēle has held a number of solo exhibitions, participated in group exhibitions and artist residences in Italy, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, India, Belgium, Germany, France and elsewhere.

Silke Bachmann ist in Leipzig geboren und in Berlin aufgewachsen. Von 2009 - 2014 hat sie Malerei an der Akademie für Malerei in Berlin bei Ute Wöllmann studiert und wurde 2014 ebenfalls bei Wöllmann zur Meisterschülerin ernannt.
Sie lebt inzwischen seit 8 Jahren in München und ist Mitglied beim BBK und in der GEDOK. Sie stellt regelmässig aus und ist immer wieder verschiedenen nationalen und internationelen Künstler*innen in Kooperationen beteiligt.

Patricia Linckes Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Themen der Grenzziehung und -auflösung, mit dem Verhältnis von Vertrautem und Unheimlichem, von Innen und Außen, von Verborgenem und Präsentiertem. Die Ambivalenz ihrer Gefühle spiegelt sich in den formal reduzierten Arbeiten wider.
Artist Ieva Balode in conversation witht the curator Anabel Roque Rodríguez
Ieva Balode (born in 1987, Riga, Latvia) is an artist and film curator working with analog image. She participates in international exhibitions and festivals presenting her work both in installation, as well as cinema and performance situations. As a curator she is a founding member of the Baltic Analog Lab - artists collective providing a space and platform for analog film production, research and education. She is also a director of the experimental film festival Process happening in Riga since 2017.
Artist Laura Feldberga in conversation with the curator Anabel Roque Rodríguez
Laura Feldberga pays special attention to the emotional component of her artwork and works with themes like time, place, emotional experience, memories, imagination, self-research and response to the surrounding reality. Most of her projects are site-specific and directly inspired by the space, conditions and emotional atmosphere of the places where her work is created.
Die Künstlerin Karin Fröhlich im Gespräch mit der Kuratorin Anabel Roque Rodríguez
Karin Fröhlich (1959) ist Malerin. Ihr einjähriger Studienbesuch als junge Künstlerin in Japan im Jahr 1983 ist immer noch eine innere Quelle ihrer Inspiration. Von 1979 bis 1986 studierte sie Malerei an der HdK Berlin (heute UdK - Universität der Künste) bei Prof. Bernd Koberling und Prof. Kuno Gonschior. 1985 Meisterschüler. Sie ist Mitglied des BBK München / OBB, der GEDOK Berlin und Sprecherin der AG Kulturelle Bildung im LV BBK Bayern. 2006 gründete sie die experimentelle Malschule "das kleine atelier" für Kinder und entwirft seit 2010 nationale und internationale Kinderkunstprojekte, die Bildende Kunst, Tanz und Literatur verbinden. Ihre Projekte wurden mehrfach vom Berliner Projektfonds für Kulturelle Bildung und der Landeshauptstadt München gefördert.
“In meiner künstlerischen Tätigkeit arbeite ich mit Naturmaterialien und stelle sie synthetischen Materialien gegenüber. Gerne assoziiere ich dabei autobiographische Themen aus der Psychologie, der Geschichte oder der Geographie.”
Artist Gundega Evelone in conversation with the curator Anabel Roque Rodríguez
Gundega Evelone (1988) is a multidisciplinary artist. Although she holds an MA in Sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia, her practice spans various mediums that are called upon as required in order to create an ever more encompassing staged version of reality that strives to wholly involve and influence the viewer. Currently the artist is moving in two distinctly opposed directions – she explores the human element in different social and historical situations while working with such fundamental concepts as ‘space’, ‘matter’ and ‘existence – nonexistence’, trying to find connections in her work between the real, tangible world and each individual’s subjective perception.
Guna Millersone ist a curator at a museum of regional scale in Talsi, Latvia where she organizes a variety of art-related exhibitions. In addition to that, she is a member of the town’s very active artist group, that cultivates performances a a takes many artistic forms. Together they take part in art exhibitions nationally and internationally.
